

A European Ice Cream manufacturer requested that Eolas International check the quality of a new
ice cream product it had launched in four European Countries. As the product was potentially
susceptible to temperature abuse, the client was particularly concerned with product quality and
also the performance of the new ice cream cabinet from which the product was being retailed.
Eolas International used four researchers in total (one per country) and completed a week long
training session before being dispatched to the marketplace. Researchers purchased a number of
samples in each store and assessed their quality against an agreed set of quality standards. They
also assessed the cabinet performance using guidelines provided by the client. Each researcher
used our mobile data collection device to record the required information and this provided instant
data uploads to the central Eolas International research team. Results were relayed daily to the
client, who could follow up immediately on any worrying trends.
The client was well placed to quickly get to retailers selling defective products and have them
removed from the market. Ultimately, the independent Eolas International data resulted in the
product being fully withdrawn from the market to allow further development on the product and
cabinet retailing solution. Eolas International has been invited to work with this client on a further
launch of this product next season.
