A major FMCG Personal Care Multinational engaged Eolas International to pick-up and test
shampoo and conditioner samples from nine countries worldwide. Multiple batches of the
client and competitor products had to be purchased and sent to the Eolas International
Laboratories for physical testing.
Eolas International used its own in-house laboratory facilities to carry out various tests on
behalf of its clients. The tests on the hair products included various viscosity measurements
as well as appearance, colour and pH. The tests looked at cross country variability as well
as variability between batches and the results were reported within one week of test
completion. A further range of client and competitor shampoo and conditioner products
underwent sensory analysis whereby product properties were profiled using Eolas
International Sensory panelists - this work included olfactory analysis (fragrance),
appearance and texture.
The client was able to use the laboratory testing service to get a fully independent audit of
the quality of its branded products being sold and manufactured across the world. Sensory
analysis results allowed the client to benchmark products against competitor products. The
client is now proposing to make the audit an annual task.
